Andrew & Michelle || A Summer Barn Wedding at Shadow Creek in Purcellville, VA

Andrew & Michelle || A Summer Barn Wedding at Shadow Creek in Purcellville, VA

With large events on hold for the time being, we can’t deny that we’re missing big weddings like crazy! Until we can all be together again safely, we’re taking a walk down memory lane and reliving gorgeous days like this classic Virginia wedding from last July. Looking back, we are still so in love with this couple’s dreamy summer wedding! By combining a mix of glam, modern, romantic, and rustic elements, Andrew and Michelle’s Shadow Creek wedding managed to feel both elegant and relaxed. The barn at Shadow Creek was the perfect backdrop for this couple’s wedding reception, and they chose to incorporate multiple chair and table styles for a result that was both beautiful and functional! To keep things fun, Andrew and Michelle spiced up cocktail hour with games on the lawn, brought in a cool mobile bar, and a gorgeous seating area complete with pieces like our Chesapeake Sofa and Faye Chair that were perfectly in keeping with their blue color palette. Overall, their big day turned out so beautifully and had a family-style atmosphere that was both laid-back and inviting. We hope you enjoy the pics below, and that they serve as great inspiration for how to decorate your very own summer wedding!

An Intimate Backyard Wedding at Home || Washington, DC

An Intimate Backyard Wedding at Home || Washington, DC

A little over a month ago, we were asked to partner with an amazing team of vendors to put on a surprise wedding for a couple who was originally set to get married with a large 400 person celebration! Due to COVID-19, this sweet couple had to postpone, but along with The Knot, Angelica & Co. Weddings, Kir Tuben Photography, and Springvale Floral, we were able to give them a beautiful celebration alongside their closest family and friends. This 15 person micro wedding included an intimate ceremony at the DC War Memorial followed by a beautiful backyard reception at the couple’s home in Washington, DC. Along the way, they stopped for photos in front of some of the city’s most iconic architecture, and even sported face masks custom embroidered with their wedding date for some of the pics! While the day wasn’t what they had originally planned, this duo went with the flow, shifted their wedding plans, and embraced a more intimate micro wedding fitting for the times! Family and friends who weren’t able to attend were able to enjoy both the ceremony and reception through Zoom, making their special day even more meaningful.

All About Camel || Color Story Series

All About Camel || Color Story Series

For the past year or so, Sarah Bradshaw has been organizing shoots to showcase various color palettes. It’s always a fun opportunity to get creative, work alongside a team of our insanely talented friendors, and to show off some of our favorite pieces. Plus, we always get the most beautiful photos back from Sarah! This particular shoot was centered around the color camel. Modern design elements contrasted nicely with free form flowers, rattan furniture, and bohemian design elements. Recently published in Moevir Magazine’s May issue, we loved going back through these photos and reliving some of our fav shots!

An Intimate Dinner for Two in Elkton, MD || Rosewood Farms x Something Vintage

An Intimate Dinner for Two in Elkton, MD || Rosewood Farms x Something Vintage

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to join forces with Rosewood Farms to give one of their couples a one-of-a-kind experience! Since they started construction in 2017, Rosewood has made it a goal to have 100 bookings in a single year. To celebrate hitting this huge milestone, they opted to create a giveaway for one lucky couple to enjoy an all inclusive dinner for two in their Rustic Barn! Along with a team of talented vendors, we helped bring their vision to life by providing a cozy seating area, a sweetheart table, place settings for two, and a bar cart for a cute dessert display. The couple enjoyed drinks (including a champagne toast!), a catered dinner, and the most beautiful photographs documenting their day by the talented Amanda Wose

Trend Alert! || SVR Predictions for 2021 Weddings & Events

Trend Alert! || SVR Predictions for 2021 Weddings & Events

As we embrace week seven of isolation, we can’t help but wonder what life will look like post-COVID, and what new trends we’ll see throughout events in 2021! We’re already noticing an increase in inquiries for micro weddings, and we think this trend will continue for the next couple of years. More than ever, people are yearning to feel connected, and we think we’ll see more intimate weddings complete with farm tables and pendant lighting for a result that feels more like a family dinner than an extravagant soirée.

With so many people looking for positivity and inspiration amidst all of the uncertainty, we also think there will be a rise in bold uses of color. This is right up our alley, and we could not be more excited to see how people incorporate more color into their event designs! Statement wedding decor goes hand in hand with bright colors, and we think we’ll see bigger and bolder ceremony backdrops, escort displays, food/drink displays, and more. Does it spark joy? If so, it’s right on trend for life post-COVID!

In their desire to feel connected, we’re finding that people are also looking for ways to support their communities and stay local! We think we’ll see a surge in requests for eco-friendly and earth-conscious options following the pandemic, with a focus on authenticity and sustainability. With people thinking more about eco-friendly options, we’re expecting to see more planted greenery and dried florals throughout 2021 weddings.
