As week two of social distancing begins, we’re thinking about the lasting impacts the coronavirus will have on our world in the coming months and years. While much is uncertain at the moment, we’re hopeful that we can use this time to reflect on what’s important, so we’ll come out on the other side more grounded and appreciative of every day luxuries we so often take for granted! We’re realizing just how important it is to feel socially connected, and we think that we’ll see a rise of intimate weddings in 2020 and 2021 that focus on celebration, closeness, and connectedness rather than a large guest count.
That was the mindset of this couple, Katie + Luis, who wed in September at Catesby Farm Estate in Middleburg, Virginia and was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings! The couple invited just 36 of their closest family and friends, and planned the wedding to feel like a backyard gathering. Their romantic wedding featured farmhouse tables so that guests felt like they were attending an intimate family dinner, a neutral color palette, and lots of lush flowers. With the help of their planner, Kaitlin of Cheers Darling Events, Katie + Luis opted to keep things intimate, and treated the entire wedding weekend as an experience, even treating guests to a gorgeous welcome dinner. We hope you enjoy the photos below, and if you’d like to see more details from their romantic weekend, be sure to check out their feature on Martha Stewart Weddings. In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned for another post dedicated entirely to their stunning welcome dinner! Stay safe & healthy, friends! xoxo
Katie + Luis wanted their wedding to feel like a backyard gathering, but with an English countryside twist! Catesby Farm Estate in Middleburg, Virginia was the perfect fit for the couple, offering a gorgeous setting and laidback vibe, all while still retaining that upscale feel they wanted. Sophie Felts’ talented team created a stunning floral arch as the centerpiece for the ceremony, and guests sat on Bentwood Chairs to watch the couple wed!
The couple offered signature drinks for their guests to sip on the patio during cocktail hour. A linen sign detailing the drinks was placed on our Fitzgerald Bar, and round tables with gorgeous floral linens were paired with our Roux Chairs and linen umbrellas! Bluewater Kitchen treated guests to an assortment of cheeses and passed hors d’oeuvres like mini crab cakes and crispy chicken wings. Yum!!
For dinner, our Brentwood Farm Tables and Wye Wishbone Chairs were set up on the back terrace to create one long wooden table. Katie + Luis wanted the meal to feel like a big family dinner, and our farm tables were the perfect way to achieve that intimate vibe! Topped off with our Allegra Seagrass Chargers, Bloomington China, and Jolee Vintage Flatware, the dinner felt simultaneously chic and relaxed.
After receiving some requests for a natural wood version of our popular Genevieve White Half Moon Bars, we got to work and created our Blair Bar & Bar Back! This was one of the very first events the Blair went out to, and we couldn’t have envisioned a better setting for its debut! The dramatic half moon shape was the perfect focal point for Katie + Luis’ reception tent, and was conveniently located right next to the dance floor so guests could grab a quick drink without missing out on the action. They didn’t stop there though! The couple also brought in our Monet Cart for a chic ice cream bar, complete with a custom decal!
Katie + Luis wanted the the intimate feeling to continue into their reception, so they opted for multiple seating areas to create a cozy living room feel for guests. Keeping with their neutral color palette of taupes, whites, grays, blues, and greens, the couple incorporated pieces like our Fallon Settee, Madeline Chairs, and Fiona Sofa. Seating areas were topped off with brass accent tables like our Gladys Coffee Table and neutral rugs like our Roshan Turkish Rug!
