Last week, we joined about 20 other DC Wedding vendors, including Sweet Tea Photography, Kelley Cannon Events, Dogwood Events, Bialek’s, and Tim Riddick Photography to give back to our community by volunteering at DC Central Kitchen. This kitchen feeds over 500,000 people each day and is different from many soup kitchens because it does not actually serve food at the location. Instead, it prepares meals for shelters, soup kitchens, and half-way houses around the District of Columbia. It also has a segment dedicated to serving hungry children in our city and packs meals for them to bring home.

This event was organized by Bree from the Capitol Romance blog. She believes that there are many couples in our area that might also want to have their guests “give back” in lieu of gifts and is creating an organization for this purpose. What an amazing, selfless idea! I’d love to hear from brides who are thinking of giving back on their wedding day.
