A couple of months ago, DC Modern Luxury magazine invited us to design a tablescape and lounge for their section on holiday gatherings– to say we were excited would be the understatement of 2019! We’re naturally drawn to bright colors, and since NYE is a festive occasion, we wanted to incorporate lots of vibrant hues into this fun tablescape. We used our Kalorama Black Table and Penn Bentwood Chairs to anchor this set-up, and layered our Tangiers and Finn rugs underneath to give the space at AutoShop a cozy, intimate feel!
We also thought a lot about NYE rituals when planning everything out. Since eating 12 grapes is considered a lucky New Year’s Eve tradition, we decided to incorporate them, as well as colorful citrus! When we pitched the idea to Holley of She Loves Me, she came up with the idea of a “fruitful new year” and things kind of snowballed from there!
We used bright fruit to play off the idea of a “fruitful new year” and added in a number of textures to keep things interesting! We believe that detailed decor is what really wows guests and that’s what we focus on at our personal parties and when we design clients’ events. Incorporating on theme details like festive tinsel noisemakers into the table settings is the perfect way to create an Instagram-worthy soirée! We also incorporated our new Langdon Plates and Rosy Chargers. Handmade plates are an extra touch of luxury guests will notice, and these porcelain plates show the hallmarks of being handmade while still being super versatile!
We love to mix metals, so we brought in our Rhys Bar Cart, Donna Disco Ball and Ricky Midcentury Lamp for a combination of brass and chrome. To keep the colorful vibes cohesive throughout the space, we used bright fruit on the bar, as cocktail garnishes, and on garlands throughout the party!
Exposed brick walls are so prominent in homes in the DC area, incorporating the brick into the vibe felt like a no-brainer! To keep the set-up from feeling too industrial, we counteracted the brick with bold pops of color. Our collection of emerald pieces has been growing like crazy lately, and our Ames Emerald Velvet Sofa was definitely the centerpiece of this vignette! We accented the Ames with our Gramercy Shell Chairs, rad Baughman Brass Midcentury Coffee Table, and our Ralphie Vintage Aluminum Christmas Tree.
