If you follow us on Instagram, you probably know my true passion is taking forgotten, vintage pieces and turning them into something awesome–like these new Tyler Bar and Tyler Back Drop– with a bit of creativity and A LOT of elbow grease! We do a ton of refinishing and custom building work and I realized we never really give you an opportunity to see the before and afters of our pieces—mainly because I get so excited to start the pieces I never take before photos! But I’m going to make a concerted effort to start taking “before” pictures so you can see what we start with and then see the finished product!
Baltimore-DC Event Planner Lauren Niles asked us to build a natural wood bar and bar back and I suggested using architectural salvage elements and she loved that idea, so we went to town figuring out elements that would make for show-stopping pieces. My husband Zach is a genius at figuring out how to transform elements that I pick out into bars and backdrops and he did not disappoint on this one–am I right?! We used architectural pieces that were once in a 1880s house in Philadelphia and constructed the Tyler Bar and Tyler Backdrop out of them. It took tons of stripper, sweat, and elbow grease, but we are so thrilled with the results! I hope you are too! Introducing our new Tyler Bar and Back Drop and Bar Back!

We are SO excited to give you a sneak peak of our hand-fired Bloomington china coming Fall 2017 to our inventory. We collaborated with local artisan White Hearth Supply to design this one-of-a-kind line that you won’t find anywhere else. (It even has our name on the back, eeee!!!) These gold and white beauties are perfectly imperfect and are adorned in real gold around the edges. We think they are simply gorgeous and are so excited for this new collaboration with fellow #girlboss and maker White Hearth Supply!

Since having Baby June, I’ve been focusing on what Something Vintage means, what we believe here, and how we are different from other rentals compnaies. We believe that having handmade and authentic vintage pieces is a big deal. It takes A LOT of extra work to overhaul a piece that was once forgotten and give it new, beautiful life but that’s why we do what we do—we take the forgotten and make it beautiful again and continue on the story of each piece. This is what we do, this is what makes us tick. After a lot of reflection, I came up with our Creed (below). I love it and hope that you do too!
The SVR CREED: Handmade and vintage pieces are our obsession, our passion, and why we get up in the morning. ☀️ We believe that by choosing hand-salvaged timber and heirloom furniture frames for our collections, something beautiful happens. 🌈 Our pieces are inherently special because no two are exactly alike and each has a story that has stood the test of time. ⏳ We, at Something Vintage, transform centuries-old wood and salvaged architectural elements into kick-a$$ custom bars and tables. 💪 We tirelessly hunt down forgotten sofas and chairs, painstakingly refinish their frames, and reupholster them in rich fabrics to continue on their stories. 🛠 We believe handmade and authentically vintage are worth the sweat, time, and tears it takes to bring these beauties back to life. 😇 It’s what gets our blood going, and it’s why we do what we do. Welcome to our version of vintage, where craft, patina, style, and awesomeness reign supreme. Boom! 💥 Who’s with us?

Oatlands Historic House and Gardens in Leesburg was the perfect setting for this greenhouse editorial shoot with Jordan and Alaina Photography. We wanted a soft, romantic, dreamy vibe from this shoot (the drizzly, overcast weather added perfectly to this!) You can see our Natural Farm tables with our Sonoma Crossback Chairs fit this romantic vibe perfectly and the rich texture of the reclaimed wood Natural Farm Tables wood complimented these gauzy linens from Torn and Tied!

We incorporated timeless, antique, silver pieces throughout the shoot and opted for soft, dusty tones and colors. We love this shift from gold and think we’ll be seeing a lot more silver and dusty hues in the next year! What do you think?!

Check out the amazing patina of our antique silver trays. If you want a perfect backdrop for detail shots at your event, our silver trays are where it’s at!

We absolutely love the way this shoot turned out. Thank you to Jordan and Alaina Photography for asking us to participate!

Ahh that text of our Natural farm tables! This was one of the first shoots to use them so we are excited to get these beautiful photos back.

Those florals by Amy Lauren are perfect for this shoot, don’t you think?
