Abandoned Mansion Photoshoot

Abandoned Mansion Photoshoot

Say “abandoned” and “mansion” together in a sentence and I’ll be there before you can blink. So when the trifecta of Anne Robert Photography, Holly Chapple Flowers, and myself dreamt up a photoshoot at a historic, abandoned mansion, you know we were going to knock this one out of the park. Holly, Anne and I snuck into the house last winter to scope out just how bad the conditions were inside in the mansion. Let’s just say it had seen its better days, but its prior beauty was still stunning. With a quick phone call, we were set to make this incredible home beautiful once again. We cannot tell you how badly we want to save this mansion!

I would DIE to have my wedding here.  That swing…Holly’s sister had her bridal portraits taken on this swing she said.  And it’s still there!

Aren’t these shots stunning? Anne Robert always blows me away. We set up a couple lounge areas outside the front door on the mansion’s expansive porch.  I adore this shot with our pink tufted loveseat with the gray stucco backdrop of the house’s exterior.

I think this paper suite from Ink Lemonade hits the nail right on the head.  I love the door as a background for this–it’s the perfect mix of beauty and rusty patina.

The long dining table is my favorite part of this shoot. We wanted an “overgrown” theme so we sourced some distressed pieces and used them with our upholstered seating.   We draped our classic farm tables with vintage lace linens and topped it with our vintage mismatched china, stemware, and gold flatware.  Then let Holly and her talented team go to work creating this beautiful tablescape with greens and flowers.   We hauled in our Spanish chandelier to add a touch of glamour to the setting.

I don’t know about you, but I’d die to have my wedding in this mansion just how it is. The chippy walls, the faded paint, the old wood floors. It’s still majestic even in it’s current state.  And check out the original piano that Holly and her crew filled with beautiful flowers….yes, please!

Ahhh the glorious wallpaper in this bedroom couldn’t be more perfect as a backdrop.  We used our vintage brass bed and threw on some vintage linens to create this stunning scene.  I’ve always wanted to use a bed in a bridal shoot, so with a bedroom like this, I couldn’t resist.

A great shot in front of the old pool out in front of the mansion….I bet it was stunning when it was in use.

Okay these walls, seriously, I’d have them in my house.  I love that peeling blue paint.  eeeeee!

The talented ladies at Karson Butler Events put together a beautiful day – I adore the portico seating area they designed using the Pink Parlor Chairs, Dusty Tangerine Settee and Leather Steamer Trunk. Please can they make my living room look this good?!

Holly Chapple designed romantic flower arrangements that brought all the elements together. It’s a gorgeous wedding like this one that reminds me how much talent there is in the DC wedding community.  And will you check out this adorable Boutonniere Bar designed by Karson Butler?!  So cute.

Swooning over our Vintage Truck!

Swooning over our Vintage Truck!

I’m in love, I’ll just say it.  I’m head over heels for my new truck–a 1964 Ford F100 long bed in its factory color, turquoise.  I’ve never been excited to drive a vehicle before, but every time I drive her around DC it makes me so happy (despite the fact she is a beast to drive here)!  I inevitably get envious looks from old men and lots of compliments on her at stoplights (no AC, my windows are always down!)  Yeah, she may not be the most practical choice, but she is incredible and I love her.  And when have I ever been practical?!

1964 Ford F100

The newest addition to our Something Vintage Rentals family!

I am contemplating renting her out for wedding and events (not to drive, just as a prop or for photos).  If anyone is interested, please contact me asap so I can make sure she is not in use on that date.

And if you see me driving, make sure to honk and say hi!
